Polar bears live on top of the world in the far North Pole a region called the Arctic . This area is made up from five countries: Alaska (US), Canada , Russia , Denmark and Norway.

They are the world’s largest land predator – even bigger and tougher than lions and tigers!

Newly born Polar Bear cubs are only 12 inches long and weigh about the same as a bag of sugar.

Polar bears are very intelligent, and have been known to play clever games with each other using objects they find, such as blocks of ice and sticks, which they can stack and knock over for fun! Polar Bear Jenga!

Klearly Klassy - a Polar Bear’s fur may look white – but it’s really completely colourless! Each hair is completely transparent, with a hollow middle. It looks white in the same way that snow and ice look white, but they also have no colour.

A Polar bear is very well insulated against the cold – apart from it’s thick fur, bears have a layer of fat called blubber under their skin, which can be over 10cm thick!

Polar Bears are superb swimmers and very skilful divers, and can swim faster than you can run. They can also see perfectly underwater, and have been known to swim over 60 miles without taking a single rest!
